A lot of people think that once they create a website people will be able to automatically find it sitting their waiting for them. If only this were the case, but sadly it’s not.
Their are millions and millions of sites out on the web these days, for your site to be seen you need to do something different to the rest or do the same thing but in a better way.
This is where Search Engine Optimization (SEO) comes into play. If you can optimize your website around targeted keywords, people searching on that keyword will be able to see your site but only if you do it well and do it correctly.
Two Types Of Search Engine Optimization
There are many different things that you can do to improve the Search Engine Optimization on your website or blog. The main two are On Page Optimization and Off Page Optimization.
On Page Optimization is the practice of optimizing the content on your web page/blog so it highlights the keyword that it is targeting. There are many different ways to do this:
- Keyword Density
- Internal Linking
- Use of Header tags
- Use of bold and italics
Off Page Optimization is a little bit harder the on page. Off page relies on your site receiving links coming to it from other targeted/related websites. So in short it’s all about getting votes to your website. Their are a few things that you can do to build the links coming to your site:
- Forum Signatures
- Blog Commenting
- RSS submissions
- Social Media Profiles
Without optimizing your site you will get very limited amounts of coming to your website each day. Something that can take 5 minutes and give you life time results is certainly worth it in my eyes.
